Kuwait Ready to Promote Cooperation with Iran: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Minister of Kuwait Ahmad Nasser Al Mohammad Al Sabah expressed his country’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Iran.

In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, held in Kuwait on Thursday evening, the senior Kuwaiti diplomat hailed the historical relations between the two countries.

Al Sabah also pointed to the capacities for the elevation of relations between the two Muslim neighbors, expressing Kuwait’s readiness to broaden cooperation and exchange delegations with Iran.

For his part, Zarif called for the expansion of relations between Tehran and Kuwait City in various fields.

He also expressed Iran’s views about the need to handle the regional issues by the regional countries, emphasizing that the countries must rely on their own capabilities to achieve constructive and stabilizing cooperation.

The two foreign ministers also discussed other issues in the meeting, including the JCPOA talks in Vienna, the consular affairs and environmental cooperation between Iran and Kuwait, the enhancement of multilateral cooperation in the region, as well as the latest developments in Yemen, Syria and Libya.

The Iranian foreign minister paid a visit to Kuwait in a tour of the region that took him earlier to Qatar, Iraq and Oman.
