Tehran to Host Meeting of Afghanistan’s Neighbors on Oct. 27

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A meeting of the foreign ministers representing the neighbors of Afghanistan will be held in Tehran on October 27, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said.

Speaking to reporters at a weekly press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said the foreign ministers of neighbors of Afghanistan will travel to Tehran for a one-day meeting next Wednesday, October 27.

“An extensive plan has been arranged,” he noted, adding that the agenda of the upcoming meeting will be “to continue the negotiations that had been held virtually in the first round”.

Foreign ministers from six countries will focus on efforts to help the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan that would involve all ethnicities and will also discuss the future prospect of peace and security in Afghanistan, he added.

In September, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held an online meeting with his counterparts from the neighbors of Afghanistan, stressing the importance of security and stability in the region and a development through the construction of an inclusive government that reflects Afghan people's variety and will.
