President Highlights Promising Results of Vaccination in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The outstanding rate of vaccination against the coronavirus in Iran has taken all cities out of the category of the red zones with high risk of contagion, President Ebrahim Raisi said.

In comments at a Saturday meeting of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, the president paid tribute to the health society and all people for cooperation in the process of public vaccination against COVID-19.

The fact that all cities of Iran have dropped out of the list of red zones, categorized as high-risk region, is a result of the scheme under which 84 percent of the target population have received the first dose and around 79 percent have gotten the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine, he added.

Calling for continued efforts to keep increasing the rate of vaccination, Raisi said the elderly, the health personnel and patients with underlying diseases should get the booster jabs.

He also called for strict control over the land, air and sea travels, especially an accurate monitoring and quarantine program in the country’s eastern borders.

The daily death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran has reached the lowest rates over the past 8 months, as over 46.11 million Iranians have been fully vaccinated.
