Foolad Falls Short against Sada Cruzeiro in FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Three-time world champion Sada Cruzeiro of Brazil was dominant against Asian champion Foolad Sirjan of Iran, securing a straight-set (25-20, 25-16, 25-16) victory in front of its home fans in Pool B of the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship.

Cuban outside hitter Miguel Angel Lopez led all scorers in the match with 20 points while Amir Hossein Esfandiar scored nine points.

Iran will meet Italian club Trentino Itas in Pool B on Thursday.

Italian teams have been the most successful with nine titles.

The FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship is an international men's club volleyball competition organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport's global governing body.

The competition was first contested in 1989 in Italy. It was not held between 1993 and 2008, but since 2009, the competition has been held every year, and has been hosted by Qatar and Brazil.
