TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahin stressed that the country condemns foreign interference in the internal affairs of Kazakhstan.

Amirabdollahin on Wednesday held talks with his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tileuberdi on the phone over bilateral and regional issues.

In the conversation, he stressed positive and friendly ties between Iran and Kazakhstan and the will of the two sides to continue, expand and strengthen the relations as well as regional and international cooperation.

Amirabdollahian added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been closely monitoring developments since the beginning of the recent unrest in Kazakhstan and has supported the country’s national sovereignty and condemned foreign interference in its internal affairs.

Tileuberdi also briefed Amirabdollahian on the recent developments in his country, stressing the need to maintain Kazakhstan's foreign policy towards the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Kazakh foreign minister also said the talks with the Iranian foreign minister symbolize Tehran's support for Kazakhstan's national sovereignty.

Tileuberdi expressed pleasure with Iran’s position during the recent developments, noting that the visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Iran is still on and the development of trade between the two countries is important for his country, the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Referring to the 30th anniversary of relations between the two countries and their importance for Tehran and Nur-Sultan, Tileuberdi invited Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to attend the Kazakhstan International Meeting scheduled for October 2022.
