Iran Goalkeeper Beiranvand Tests Positive for COVID-19
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran national football team goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand tested positive for COVID-19.
Some Team Melli players namely, Ehsan Hajsafi, Majid Hosseini, Mehdi Ghaedi and Ahmad Nourollahi had already contracted the virus and missed the Iraq match.
Iran is scheduled to meet the UAE on Tuesday in the 2022 World Cup qualifier in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Beiranvand remained an unused substitute in the match against Iraq, where Team Melli defeated its rival 1-0 and qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as the first Asian team.
