Coronavirus in Iran: Over 3,400 Patients in ICUs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of the patients diagnosed with the coronavirus infection in Iran, more than 3,400 are in the intensive care units of hospitals.

The Iranian Health Ministry said on Monday that 3,410 victims of COVID-19 in the country are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities.

The death toll from the pandemic in Iran has risen to 133,886, as 168 more Iranians have succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, it said.

Over the last 24 hours, 28,956 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 3,157 of them hospitalized, it added.

The Health Ministry also said more than 6,327,400 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 6,835,200 sick people.

The ministry added that over 61.66 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 54.85 million have received the second dosage, and more than 21.47 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 412 million and the death toll has exceeded 5.83 million.
