Iran, Oman Discuss Implementation of Agreements Reached at Joint Economic Commission Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Oman exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues in a meeting in Tehran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Wednesday hosted his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi in Tehran.

The two sides held talks, among other things, over the Omani Sultan’s invitation to President Ebrahim Raisi to pay an official visit to Oman and the planning of the trip, and ways of implementing the agreements Iran and Oman reached at their Joint Economic Commission meeting, which was successfully held in Muscat last month.

Important regional issues such as the crisis in Yemen and the expansion of regional talks aimed at reducing tensions in West Asia were other topics discussed by the foreign ministers of the two countries, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.

Amirabdollahian underlined in the meeting that due to the excellent and fraternal relations between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman, he thinks that bilateral consultations on various issues of mutual interest play a special role in this regard.

The Omani foreign minister also spoke about various projects agreed upon by both sides in the previous meetings of the delegations of Iran and Oman. He expressed hope that the strategic economic relations will thrive further with the efforts of the two governments.

He also called for closer consultations between the foreign ministries of Iran and Oman, citing the potentials for expanding cooperation.

Amirabdollahian and Albusaidi attended a joint press conference after the meeting and then went to meet with the Iranian president to hand over a letter to him from the Sultan of Oman.
