Pandemic in Iran: Daily Hospitalizations Dip below 1,000

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of the coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours has stood at below 1,000, the Health Ministry said.

Over the past 24 hours, 5,841 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported, with 988 of them hospitalized, the ministry said on Tuesday.

It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 138,260, saying the disease has taken the lives of 144 patients over the past 24 hours.

More than 6,747,000 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,102,000 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.

Some 3,428 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.

The ministry also said that over 63.27 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 55.87 million have received the second dosage, and more than 24.34 million have gotten the booster shots.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 448 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.02 million.
