Number COVID Vaccines Injected in Iran Exceeds 147 Million


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 147 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been injected in Iran so far, the Health Ministry said Friday.

The ministry put the total number of vaccines administered in the country as of Friday at 147,064,897.

It said more than 63.92 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 56.9 million have received the second dosage, and more than 26.23 million have gotten the booster shots.

The ministry also said that over the past 24 hours, 36 people infected with the coronavirus have died in the country, bringing the total death toll to 140,240.

The total number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 7,164,000 following the detection of 2,264 new cases since yesterday, it noted.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 315 patients have been admitted to the hospital, the ministry further said, adding that over 6.87 million coronavirus patients have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Worldwide, the number of those infected with COVID-19 is close to 489 million and the death toll is above 6.16 million.
