Ukrainian President Highlights Need to Continue Talks with Russia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky believes that talks with Russia should continue, as he himself said in an interview with Ukrainian journalists.

"It’s impossible to just say: ‘Let’s not talk anymore.’ It’s the easiest position, it’s the easiest thing to say, ‘I won’t talk with you’," he pointed out. "The hardest thing is to talk," Zelensky added, TASS reported.

"Given (Ukraine’s) position aimed at finding opportunities to hold meetings and search for a way out of the situation, making sure that we don’t lose territories, I believe that this is the goal we need to try to achieve in talks," the Ukrainian president said.

He believes that he has "no choice" but "to pull himself together." According to him, "there is a need to search for opportunities" to engage in activities such as talks.

At the same time, Zelensky would like Kiev’s position to be stronger, which could be achieved by obtaining powerful weapons and uniting society. "We need to choose what steps to take. It’s not that I have no choice, it’s not a problem for me, I make decisions absolutely calmly. The question is not whether you want it or not.

The issue of talks will definitely be raised, the only question is how strong you will be at the negotiating table and it depends on these important aspects," the Ukrainian president noted.
