Palestine’s Struggle against Israel Enters New Phase: Iranian Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Intifada (Palestinian uprising) and Quds Center at Iran’s Islamic Propagation Coordination Council said the Palestinian people’s outrage at the futile peace talks with the Zionists has marked a new stage in the battle against the Israeli regime.

In comments at a Sunday meeting held in Tehran to prepare plans for this year’s International Quds Day, Ramezan Sharif said the process of negotiations and compromise with Zionists has been fruitless, causing the residents of the West Bank to join the people of Gaza in the struggle against Israel.

“People of Palestine have been infuriated by the process of compromise (with Israel) and have embarked on a new stage in the battle (against Israel),” he added.

Highlighting the sensitivity of the face-off between Palestinians and Israeli forces in the holy month of Ramadan and on the upcoming International Quds Day, Sharif said the Zionist regime is faltering and eroding in the face of Palestinian resistance.

“What has terrified the Zionist regime extremely is its weakened security and the intensification of the confrontation and activities of the popular groups and young educated Palestinians in the West Bank with the usurper Israeli regime, which have challenged and damaged the regime’s security,” he stated.

The fact that the Zionist regime is losing its security and population signifies the loss of its identity and dissolution of that regime, Sharif said, adding that the process of collapse of Israel has accelerated.

On International Quds Day, rallies are held in different parts of the world and demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
