Iran Offers to Help Sudan after Deadly Floods

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed the country’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to Sudan, where torrential rains and floods have caused extensive damages and killed scores of people.
In a statement on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani extended condolences to Sudan’s government and people over the loss of lives in the recent floods that have destroyed the North African country’s infrastructures.
He added that Iran is ready to give relief aid to Sudan.
Torrential rains and floods in Sudan have destroyed about 8,900 houses and damaged another 20,600 in 12 states since May.
The National Council for Civil Defense reported on August 13 that 52 people have died and another 25 injured since the beginning of the rainy season.
