Iranian MPs in Tajikistan to Broaden Parliamentary Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation of Iranian lawmakers has traveled to Tajikistan in the pursuit of plans for closer parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Four Iranian lawmakers representing the Iran-Tajikistan parliamentary friendship group have traveled to Dushanbe at the invitation of the chairman of Tajikistan’s National Assembly.

The Iranian MPs are going to hold meetings with the Tajik parliamentary and government officials and the Iranian nationals residing in the Central Asian nation.

The members of the delegation are expected to weigh plans in the visit for the promotion of parliamentary ties and facilitation of economic, trade and cultural cooperation between the two nations.

In May, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon paid an official visit to Tehran and signed 17 documents on cooperation in various fields with Iran.

In a meeting with his Tajik counterpart in Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged that the Iranian and Tajik authorities should maintain regular meetings and bilateral negotiations in order to found sustainable and inclusive relations between the two Persian-speaking nations in such a way that the ties would turn into a regional model.
