A total of 1065 athletes from 75 countries participated in the organization that lasted for three days at Martyr Police Recep Topaloğlu Sports Hall in Izmit by the World Karate Federation.
Mahmoud Nemati defeated Turkey’s Arslan Omer Faruk in the men’s kumite in the 84kg final match.
Mehdi Khodabakhshi also won Iran’s second gold by beating Arslan Hasan of Turkey in the men’s kumite 84kg.
Iran’s Ali Meskini lost to Turkey’s Ozdemir Burak in the men’s kumite 60kg and took a silver.
Mohammad Reza Gilanpour (men’s kumite 84kg), Mortez Nemati (men’s kumite 67kg) and Mahsa Afsaneh (women kata) also collected three bronze medals.
