Iran's Ambassador, Employees Hospitalized Amid Pandemic Reemergence in China
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs contacted the country’s Ambassador to China to find out how he and his colleagues were doing on health matters after the reemergence of the COVID-19 epidemic in China led to the hospitalization of seven employees of the Iranian Embassy.
According to Iranian media, Hossein Amirabdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, contacted Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh, Iran's Ambassador to China and inquired about the health status of the employees of the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy who are infected with the COVID-19, following the reemergence of the pandemic in China.
The minister appreciated the assistance of the Chinese host for their help in this regard.
The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Beijing expressed his gratitude for the call from the minister and assured that the country’s Embassy will carry out its assigned tasks to the best of its ability to secure the interests of Islamic Iran in light of the extensive efforts being made to contain COVID-19.
China began dismantling its "Zero-COVID" regime of lockdowns and testing, which had largely kept the virus at bay for three years at significant financial and psychological costs. This was done in response to widespread protests.
The head of the World Health Organization previously stated that the organization is "very concerned" about the increase in cases of severe coronavirus disease in China.
