Iran Warns Regional Countries of US Divisive Policies

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanani, has criticized the joint statement by the United States and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as dangerously ill-intentioned and divisive.

Politics

The statement, which was issued during a meeting of the "Working Group on Iran" in Riyadh, accused Iran of destabilizing policies, supporting terrorism, and nuclear provocations.

Kanani rejected the accusations, calling them "oft-repeated" and "tedious." He cited examples of the US's "destructive" and "interventionist" policies in the region, including sales of weapons to regional states, support for Takfiri terrorism, and contribution to the Yemeni conflict.

Kanani emphasized that Iran would continue its peaceful nuclear energy program and constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), despite political pressure.

The Islamic Republic favors regional diplomacy and political solutions to regional crises. Kanani expressed hope for regional peace, security, and sustainable development, while cautioning against US "self-serving intentions and sinister policies" targeting the region.
