Herve Renard Shortlisted to Lead Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – French coach Herve Renard is a candidate to take charge of Iran national football team.

After parting company with Carlos Queiroz, Iran football federation has not yet found a coach.

Iranian media have previously reported that the Federation is going to hire a domestic coach for Team Melli but head of Iran Football Federation’s public relations Amir Mehdi Alavi says that Renard is also among the candidates.

The 54-year-old coach led Saudi Arabia in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“If Herve Renard parts company with Saudi Arabia, the federation will start negotiation with him,” Alavi said.

Iran national football team will play two friendly matches with Iraq and Russia in late March.
