Iran Enjoys High Capacity in Knowledge-based Industries: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Republic of Iran has high capacity and capability in knowledge-based industries, an official said.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari made the remarks in a meeting with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming in Tehran on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation.
Referring to the role of multilateralism in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Safari considered economic cooperation as the center of multilateralism policy.
Iran's joining the SCO is also in line with this policy, he said, emphasizing that full membership will provide numerous mutual benefits for the two sides.
Half of the SCO members are landlocked and the others, like Iran, are situated in transit routes, he said, adding that Iran is ready to play an outstanding role in the Shanghai transport cooperation arrangements.
Iran enjoys a high capacity in knowledge-based industries, Safari stated and expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate in the relevant fields and to promote technology and knowledge-based centers at the level of Shanghai member countries.
