Ansarullah Condemns US’ Illegal Presence in Yemen's Al-Mahrah, Hadhramaut

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement denounced the United States' recent activities in the eastern provinces of al-Mahrah and Hadhramaut as a violation of the country's sovereignty.

In a statement carried by Yemen's al-Masirah television network, Ansarullah's Political Bureau warned against foreign intervention and urged Yemenis to resist the "dangerous assault" and "flagrant violation" of their country's sovereignty.

The statement was issued following a visit by US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin and Vice Admiral Brad Cooper to al-Mahrah, where they discussed fighting the smuggling of weapons and drugs. However, informed sources suggested that the visit was part of the US government's secret plans to increase military presence in the strategic region. Ansarullah's Political Bureau warned of the consequences of such actions and called on the Yemeni people to counter any foreign intervention in all possible ways.

Ansarullah's Political Bureau also criticized the self-proclaimed Yemeni regime, backed by Saudi Arabia and the US, for any betrayal or breach of the country's sovereignty. The resistance group urged Yemenis living in southern and eastern regions to remain vigilant and work towards thwarting conspiracies that threaten the unity, sovereignty, and independence of Yemen.

Yemen’s parliament has issued a statement reiterating its opposition to foreign occupation forces in the country, calling on Yemenis to resist outside intervention in their internal affairs. The statement, released on Sunday, warned of American schemes to undermine Yemen’s unity and sovereignty, particularly in the southeastern province of al-Mahrah, where US, British, and Saudi forces are present. Yemen’s al-Masirah television network reported on the parliament’s statement.

Also on Sunday, the Yemeni parliament condemned any foreign presence in Yemeni territory, including its lands, islands, and waters, and blamed the coalition of aggression and its proxies for undermining Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The statement also criticized the suspicious movements of the US ambassador and the commander of the US Fifth Fleet in occupied Yemeni provinces. The US military has escalated its presence in Yemen’s southeastern provinces of al-Mahra and Hadhramaut in recent months, raising concerns about its intentions and attempts to obstruct peace efforts in the region. The Huffington Post also reported on the US military's activities in al-Mahra, citing geopolitical and economic motives.

Saudi Arabia launched the devastating war on Yemen in March 2015 in collaboration with its Arab allies and with arms and logistics support from the US and other Western states.

The objective was to reinstall the Riyadh-friendly regime of Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and crush the Ansarullah resistance movement, which has been running state affairs in the absence of a functional government in Yemen.

While the Saudi-led coalition has failed to meet any of its objectives, the war has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and spawned the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
