Iran, Malaysia Determined to Boost Cooperation in Field of Standards

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Head of the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran (ISIRI) announced the start of cooperation with the Department of Standards Malaysia.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Summit of heads of Asia-Pacific Standard Organizations (ISO), Mehdi Eslampanah held talks with the Chairman of the Department of Standards Malaysia Shaharul Sadri bin Alwi in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral ties in the field of standards and relevant issues.

Turning to the necessity of observing technical rules and regulations, mutually admitting standards and observing the evaluation procedures of adaptation, he termed the participation of the accredited companies for realizing a rise in trade and economic exchanges between the two countries as ‘necessary’.

The draft of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for enhancing bilateral cooperation has been provided between Iranian and Malaysian standard organizations and is on the verge of finalization, he stated.

He expressed hope that future cooperation in the fields of “standardization and halal” would have an effective role in the facilitation of trade between the two countries.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kuala Lumpur Ali Asghar Mohammadi also attended the meeting, in which issues related to bilateral cooperation in the fields of standardization, evaluation of adaptation and halal were discussed.

The Iranian envoy expressed his readiness to follow up on bilateral issues between Iranian and Malaysian standards organizations.
