IPL Title Favorites Defeat Opponents
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Sepahan, Esteghlal and Persepolis football teams defeated their opponents in Iran Professional League (IPL) Matchday 24 on Friday.
Sepahan defeated visiting team Sanat Naft in Isfahan thanks to a Farshad Ahmadzadeh’s first-half goal.
Second-placed Esteghlal beat Zob Ahan 2-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Mahdi Ghaedi scored the first goal in the 20th minute and Kevin Yamga doubled the scoreboard from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.
Persepolis also defeated 10-man Mes in Rafsanjan. Its Georgian defender Giorgi Gvelesiani scored from the penalty spot in the 30th minute.
Mes Rafsanjan defender Ramtin Soleymanzadeh was shown a straight red card in the 25th minute.
Gol Gohar also defeated Nassaji 2-1 in its away match.
Sepahan remained top with 52 points, followed by Esteghlal (49) and Persepolis (48).
