Iran Abhors Azeri Media's Mischiefs

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian embassy in Baku warned against the negative consequences of the insulting mischiefs by the Republic of Azerbaijan’s media outlets.

The Iranian embassy in Baku delivered a note of protest to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry on Saturday over "insulting and offensive" measures by the neighboring country's media against Tehran.

According to a statement by Iran's Foreign Ministry, the embassy warned against the negative and harmful consequences of the continuation of such media misbehavior on the future relations between the two countries.

It also urged the Republic of Azerbaijan to put an end to such moves, Press TV reported.

Azerbaijan’s relations with Iran were strained in January following an attack on the Eurasian country’s embassy in Tehran.

Azerbaijan closed its diplomatic mission following the incident and evacuated staff over what it called a “terrorist act,” with President Ilham Aliyev blaming it on the “Iranian establishment.”

This is while an initial investigation pointed to “personal and family-related problems” as the motive of the assailant.

Recent estimates show that Azerbaijan has become the Israeli regime’s largest supplier of oil while Tel Aviv is now responsible for almost 70 percent of Baku’s weapons.

On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran demanded an explanation from the Republic of Azerbaijan for its foreign minister’s comments about a “new stage in strategic partnership” with the Zionist regime as Baku opened an embassy in Tel Aviv.
