Iranian, Pakistani Officials Discuss Bilateral, Regional, International Issues

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian discussed important bilateral, regional, and international issues with Hana Rabbani, an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, on Thursday.

On the sidelines of the 4th meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in Samarkand, Amirabdollahian highlighted the position of relations between the two countries as a priority for Iran's foreign policy approach.

He emphasized the need for the implementation of previous agreements and expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of friendly relations between the two countries.

He also called for close and mutual cooperation between Iran and Pakistan on Afghanistan as a platform for the promotion of trilateral cooperation.

The Iranian top diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the Polan to Gwadar power transmission line being ready and also the Mand Pishin crossing, and called the implementation of these projects an expression of the capacities of both sides for further cooperation.

Rabbani, for her part, emphasized the need for the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan to use complementary economic capacities for more cooperation.

She also raised important topics such as border cooperation in various security and commercial fields, expanding trade and economic cooperation, holding security committees, consular committees, and following up on the agreements of the Joint Economic Commission and mutual meetings of high officials of the two countries.

The fourth quadrilateral meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, with the presence of foreign ministers and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, China, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, was held on Thursday afternoon in Samarkand.
