Kavousi, Goleij Take Bronzes at 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestlers Amir Hossein Kavousi and Mojtaba Goleij won two bronze medals at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships on Thursday.
In the 79kg, Kavousi defeated Japan’s Yajuro Yamasaki 9-0 in the bronze medal match.
Goleij also defeated Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Urkimbay 11-0 to seize a bronze.
The Championships started on April 9 in Astana, Kazakhstan, and will run until April 14.
The six-day event will determine the seeds for the World Championships, due to be held in mid-September in Serbia. The World Championships, consequently, will serve as the qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
