TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thousands of protesters, including many undocumented migrants, marched on Saturday in Paris against a controversial immigration bill, known as the 'Darmanin law'.

Demonstrators marched against Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin's legislative proposal on asylum and immigration while chanting in the French capital.

The protesters carried banners with messages such as 'Regularisation of all undocumented migrants, no to the Darmanin law, equal, no one is illegal', 'With or without payslips we work, regularization of all undocumented migrants', and 'Immigration law: Le Pen dreamed, Darmanin did it'.

The demonstrators also highlighted the authorities' operation on France's Indian Ocean Island of Mayotte to deport illegal immigrants, most of whom come from neighboring Comoros. One protester criticized the government for taking illegal action against immigrants and paid tribute to Comorian families who died since the French state introduced a visa.

Earlier in the week, a French court halted the clearance of a slum in Mayotte, a plan that has sparked clashes between locals and security forces.
