Amirabdollahian held a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad on the sidelines of a quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey in Moscow on Wednesday.

Voicing satisfaction with the political processes for the settlement of disputes between Syria and Turkey, the Iranian foreign minister expressed Tehran’s support for that process and its readiness to contribute to the negotiations on the normalization of ties between Damascus and Ankara.

Hailing Syria’s return to the Arab League, Amirabdollahian said the ongoing ministerial meeting in Moscow provides an opportunity for the advancement of the political process of resolution of Syria’s problems.

The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, highlighted the significance of addressing the conflict between Syria and Turkey politically.

Mekdad noted that the withdrawal of Turkish military forces from his country would pave the way for the normalization of ties and the settlement of other differences between Syria and Turkey.
