Iran Summons Swiss Envoy over Fake Flag Image

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The ambassador of Switzerland to Tehran was called in by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Sunday in protest at the Swiss embassy’s move to republish a photo depicting an unreal flag of Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Switzerland’s ambassador Nadine Olivieri Lozano on Sunday following the European country’s “interfering stances” on Iran’s domestic affairs and the Swiss embassy’s “unconventional and unprofessional” move to republish an image on its Twitter account that depicts a fake flag of Iran.

The Swiss envoy was informed about the Islamic Republic’s protest and dissatisfaction, and was reminded that such an “unconventional measure” runs counter to the friendly ties between Tehran and Bern and needs to be rectified.

The envoy said she would convey Iran’s protest to Switzerland.

On May 19, the official Twitter account of the Swiss embassy in Tehran released a post in condemnation of the execution of three convicts in Iran.

A picture attached to the tweet shows a group of anti-Iranian protesters hoisting a flag of Iran before the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
