Spain Welcomes Closer Interaction with Iran


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Spain expressed his country’s readiness to promote cooperation with Iran.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albarez talked about a range of issues on the relations between Tehran and Madrid and the international developments.

Amirabdollahian highlighted the significance of enhancing relations between the two nations, particularly in light of Spain's recent parliamentary elections.

He also mentioned Iran's dialogue and cooperation with the European Union during Spain's rotating presidency of the bloc, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Albarez, for his part, welcomed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries, acknowledging their historical ties.

The Spanish foreign minister further expressed Madrid's readiness to strengthen cooperation with Tehran.

The two top diplomats also discussed bilateral consular cooperation.
