Team Melli’s Noshad and Nima Alamian, who had defeated Japan 3-0 in the quarterfinals, failed to secure a place in the final after losing to South Korea 3-0 at the GSP Gymnasium.
It was Iran’s first medal in table tennis after 65 years.
Iran had previously defeated Bahrain and Mongolia and lost to Hong Kong in Group E.
