Iran Raps Terrorist Attack on Religious Rally in Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran condemned a fatal terrorist attack on a rally celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

In a statement on Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned the terrorist attack on Pakistani people in the commemorative rally.

He also offered condolences to the Pakistan government and people, particularly the bereaved families of victims of the bombing.

The Iranian spokesman denounced the attack on the procession celebrating the birthday of “the prophet of mercy and kindness” as a clear indication that terrorists are unfamiliar with the merciful teachings of the prophet of Islam.

The death toll from the suspected suicide bomb blast at the procession in Pakistan’s Balochistan province has climbed to 52.

The powerful bomb exploded on Friday near a mosque in Mastung district of Balochistan, wounding at least 50 others, including many in critical condition, media reports said.

The country’s interior ministry confirmed a blast carried out by “terrorist elements” in Balochistan.

Friday’s bombing came days after authorities asked police to remain on maximum alert as armed groups could target rallies making the occasion.

Muslims in Pakistan and around the world celebrate the birthday of Islam’s prophet by holding public gatherings.
