Mixed Trains between Tehran-Karbala Launched
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) announced the launch of mixed trains between Tehran and the holy city of Karbala in Iraq.
Speaking in an interview with IRNA, Hassan Mousavi said the train will depart from Tehran to Shalamcheh every Saturday and after traveling 30 km from Shalamcheh to Basra, it will continue its way from Basra to the holy city of Karbala.
In the morning of the same day, another train will transport passengers from Karbala to Basra and after traveling 30 kilometers to Shalamcheh border crossing, the train will head to Tehran, he stated.
A mixed train or mixed consist is a train that contains both passenger and freight cars or wagons.
