Iran's Barkhordari Wins Gold at Wuxi 2023 Grand Slam
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mehran Barkhordari from Iran seized a gold medal at the Wuxi 2023 World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series.
He defeated Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Jaysunov in the -80 kg final 2-1 to win the gold medal.
It was a repeat of the final from the previous Grand Slam, where Barkhordari had lost to the Uzbek rival.
Also, Mirhashem Hosseini won a bronze for Iran as fellow Iranian Amir Mohammad Bakhshi was forced to withdraw in the bronze medal match in the weight class.
Barkhordari also earned his place at the 2024 Olympic Games.
