Common Interests with Neighbors Considered in Launching ‘Iran Road’ Project: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s deputy minister of roads and urban development for transportation affairs said the country has considered the joint interests with the neighboring countries in implementation of the “Iran Road” mega project.

Iran is seeking the common interests in implementation of the “Iran Road” project with the neighboring countries, Shahriar Afandizadeh stated.

Speaking on the third of the 7th Iran International Exhibition of Transportation, Logistics and Related Industries dubbed “Iran Trans 2023”, he said it is predicted that trade ties between Russia and Europe will decrease by $262 billion, so the trade will shift towards east Asia and the Middle East region and Iran is located on all these trade routes.

In this regard, Iran should take advantage of the opportunity created by completing the transport infrastructures including the Rasht-Astara Railway, Younesi-Mashhad Railroad and also Caspian-Rasht mixed transportation, the deputy minister added, IRNA reported.

He pointed to the significance of the comprehensive transport plan of the country and noted that the mixed transportation system should be taken into serious consideration.

In addition, the issue of transit is highlighted as the most important factor in the “Iran Road” project, he said.

Securing the common interests between Iran and the neighboring countries has been taken into consideration in the implementation of the project, Afandizadeh added.

The 7th Iran International Exhibition of Transportation, Logistics and Related Industries was inaugurated in Tehran on December 18 and will run through December 21.
