Iran’s President to Visit Turkey Soon as Kerman Attack Cancels Trip
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey agreed on the Iranian president’s state visit to Turkey in the near future after a deadly terrorist attack in Kerman on Wednesday canceled the planned visit.
In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan offered condolences to the government and people of Iran on the Wednesday’s terrorist attack that claimed over 80 lives in Iran’s southern city of Kerman.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian thanked Turkey's high-ranking officials, including the president and foreign minister, for expressing sympathy with Iran.
He also highlighted the Iranian authorities' rigorous efforts to identify those who ordered and perpetrated the heinous terrorist attack.
The two senior diplomats also agreed to reschedule the Iranian president’s official visit to Turkey in the near future.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi canceled his planned visit to Turkey after the fatal terrorist attack in Kerman.
The Wednesday's twin blasts at an event held in commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of late commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani resulted in the tragic loss of 89 lives, including 9 children, and left nearly 300 individuals injured, with some in critical condition.
Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has warned that those behind the terrorist act will receive a severe response.
