The second day of the fifth edition of a large-scale air defense drill, codenamed Defenders of Velayat Skies 1402, kicked off on Friday, focusing on tactics used in the electronic warfare.

A highlight of today’s operations was the precision launches by 9th of Dey missile system.

The air defense system, designed and manufactured by the local experts, is capable of engaging and destroying various threats such as cruise missiles, drones and bombs.

The spokesman for the war game said 9th of Dey has detected, tracked and detonated a series of targets by firing short-range missiles at low altitudes in the war game.

Units from the Iranian Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, and the Iranian Air Force have employed a broad range of homegrown systems in a coordinated manner in the drill.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.
