Egypt Shares Views with Iran on Palestine: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The foreign minister of Egypt said his country is on the same wavelength as Iran in supporting Palestine.

Cairo and Tehran have common views about the need to support Palestine and end the Israeli crimes in Gaza, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart on the sidelines of the 55th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday.

He noted that Egypt and Iran have identical stances about the efforts to support the Palestinian people.

Shoukry also highlighted the importance that Egypt attaches to the restoration of ties with Iran on the basis of mutual respect and common interests.

The relations between the two countries will be a crucial factor in ensuring regional stability and addressing the crises, he stated.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said cooperation between the two nations, as in support of Palestine, will positively affect the entire region.

Slamming the Zionist regime as the root cause of crisis in the region, he stressed the need for constant collective efforts to stop the genocide of Palestinians and deliver immediate humanitarian aids into Gaza.

At least 29,878 Palestinian people have been killed and 70,215 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
