Iranian, Russian Diplomats Discuss Regional Developments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Foreign Ministry officials from Iran and Russia talked about the latest developments in a number of regional countries, including Syria, Palestine and Yemen.

In a meeting held in Tehran on Monday, the Iranian foreign minister’s senior advisor for special political affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, and Russian Foreign Ministry’s Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department Alexander Kinschak talked about the crisis in Palestine following the Israeli onslaught on Gaza and the developments in Syria, Yemen and Libya.

Discussing the situation on the ground in Syria, they weighed joint plans to help improve the economic and humanitarian situation in the Arab country and called for the continuation of political processes to settle the conflicts there.

They further emphasized the need to protect the unity and sovereignty of Libya, expressing hope that the political crisis in the North African nation would end with its own people’s will and decision.

Pointing to the incidents in Yemen, Khaji warned that the illegal military strikes by the US and the UK on Yemen would disrupt the peace efforts in the Arab country.

Denouncing Washington’s support for the Zionist regime in its war on Gaza, the Iranian diplomat said, “The Zionist regime has failed to achieve anything besides the brutal killing of civilians and committing crimes against humanity and has expanded its raids and military aggressions into Syria and Lebanon amid the international organizations’ passivity and silence.”

At least 31,045 Palestinians have been killed and 72,654 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
