Iran Says Netanyahu Taking Gaza, US Interests Hostage for Personal Gain

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been taking the war in Gaza and US national interests hostage to achieve his own personal gain.

In a call with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian highlighted the latest developments in Gaza, focusing on reports of Israeli massacre of Palestinian women and children at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital.

"The continuation of humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbated by Israel's use of starvation tactics, has escalated into the crisis of the century," stated Iran's foreign minister. He commended Borrell's call to end Israel's "genocidal war" and provide humanitarian aid to besieged Gaza, urging the international community and the EU to take punitive action against the Israeli regime.

Amirabdollahian also called for an international fact-finding mission to investigate Israel's crimes, including those at Shifa Hospital. He criticized the US and some European countries for supplying weapons to Israel while sending symbolic humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The Israeli war on Gaza began on October 7 when Palestinian resistance groups retaliated against decades of Israeli atrocities. Despite killing over 32,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring nearly 74,700 others, Israel has not achieved its objectives.

Borrell informed that the EU will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and support UN efforts for a lasting ceasefire. Borrell reiterated his opposition to Israel's potential ground invasion of Rafah and criticized the regime for causing hunger among civilians.
