Iran, Turkmenistan Eager for Closer Ties: Amirabdollahian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Pointing to his high-profile talks during a visit to Ashgabat, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said Iran and Turkmenistan care about the promotion of cooperation in various fields.

“During my trip to Ashgabat, I had a meeting with Messrs. Sardar Bardimohamedov, Turkmenistan’s President, Gurbanguly Bardimohamedov, its national leader, and Reshid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan,” the top Iranian diplomat said in a post on his X account on Friday.

“Following up on the agreements reached between the presidents of the two countries and reviewing the process of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, transit, fight against terrorism and consular affairs and developments in Afghanistan, Ukraine and Gaza topped the agenda of talks,” he added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

“The expansion and strengthening of cooperation is of importance to Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Amirabdollahian said.
