Iran Urges Int’l Inquiry in Al-Shifa Hospital Tragedy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman called for an urgent international investigation into the Israeli regime’s crimes in Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital, from which the Zionist forces have withdrawn after a two-week raid.

In a post on his X account on Monday, Nasser Kanaani said the images of al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza after a two-week siege laid by the Israeli regime’s military, the comments by the eyewitnesses, and the media reports about the extent of destruction, torture, massacre and the number of Palestinians detained there are appalling and dreadful.

He also highlighted the urgent necessity of an international investigation into the Israeli atrocities in the hospital.

“Will the international assemblies and institutions fulfill their duties? Will the widely-known advocates of human rights support an international investigation into the aspects of such blatant war crime or will the selective and discriminatory behaviors regarding human rights still continue?” he asked sarcastically.

Gaza’s media office said more than 400 Palestinian people, including patients, war-displaced and healthcare staff, have been killed in Israeli attacks during the siege of al-Shifa Hospital.

Gaza’s civil defense and medical authorities are heading to al-Shifa Hospital for recovery operations following the Israeli withdrawal.

Dead bodies are scattered in the street near the hospital.

At least 32,782 Palestinians have been killed and 75,298 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
