Iran’s Nokhodi Wins Gold at Asian Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Mohammad Nokhodi from Iram won a gold medal in the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championships on Thursday.

Nokhodi, winner of the Zagreb Open in January, defeated Mongolia’s Byambadorj Enkhbayar 12-2 in the final match of the 79kg.

It all ended 27 seconds into the second period when Nokhodi caught the Mongolian in a cradle for a takedown and exposure.

"It is the first time that I have achieved the gold medal at the senior Asian Championships, but I will try my best to obtain the gold medal in the World Championships this year," said Nokhodi, the world bronze medalist last year after taking silvers in 2021 and 2022.

The 2024 Asian Wrestling Championships are being held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from April 19 to 21.
