In a meeting with Special Aide to the Russian President Igor Levtin and Chairperson of the State Duma's Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash stressed the need to develop transit and implement construction operation of the Rasht-Astara Railway.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest situation of accelerating the implementation of the construction operation of the 164-km Rasht-Astara railway, increasing the volume of transit through Iran and completing the construction operation of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), according to Mehr news agency.
The Iranian and Russian Officials emphasized promoting the level of bilateral cooperation and operationalization of the multilateral transport agreements to boost the transit en route INSTC, calling for the development of rail cooperation between Iran and Russia aimed at increasing the transport of goods between the two countries.
