Israel Intensifies Attacks in Gaza Hospitals, Civilians Targeted

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces escalated their offensive on Gaza, striking Kamal Adwan Hospital and civilian areas, leaving dozens dead and injured as healthcare services collapse and humanitarian conditions worsen.

World

Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza is facing an "extreme catastrophe," according to its director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, as Israeli shelling damages the facility, endangering patients, including malnourished children and the elderly.

Dr. Abu Safiya reported that 85 injured individuals, mostly women and children, are at risk of death due to critical shortages of medicine. "The injured arrive on foot, braving shelling en route," he told Al Jazeera. An elderly man in the region has already succumbed to starvation.

The hospital’s upper floors were destroyed during a three-hour shelling session, disrupting emergency care. Dr. Ahmed al-Kahlout, head of the ICU, described the dire conditions: “Explosions spread shrapnel that can break bones, while destroyed water tanks and sewage systems paralyze hospital functions.”

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continued across Gaza. In the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, two people were killed and several others wounded. In Jabalia, 12 civilians were killed in an airstrike, including a professor whose family had refused to flee. Near Rafah, two bodies were recovered from bombed areas, according to local reports.

In Beit Lahiya, a town under siege for 46 days, at least eight civilians were killed in a strike on a residential building. The relentless bombardment also targeted civil defense crews, killing one officer and wounding three others in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. Such attacks have hindered rescue efforts in conflict zones.

The Palestinian death toll continues to rise. Al Jazeera Arabic reports that at least 12 civilians were killed in Jabalia, with over 10 missing. Videos shared by the Palestinian Information Center depict victims from Jabalia and Sabra being brought to northern Gaza's Ahli Hospital.

The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza, condemning Israel for the destruction of water and sanitation infrastructure. “Humanitarian zones” in areas like Deir el-Balah are unsafe and unsanitary, the group said, as sewage floods streets and diseases like polio and meningitis spread.

Since October 7, Israeli attacks have killed at least 43,972 Palestinians and wounded 104,008, with little hope of relief for those who survive.
