Iranian Karate Players Win Eight Medals at 2025 Open de Marseille

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian karate practitioners won eight medals in the 2025 Open de Marseille.

Sports

Iran won four gold medals, one silver and three bronzes in the event.

Abolfazl Arab Yaghoubi defeated Italian Leonardo Nannini 8-2 in the final bout of U14-year Male Kumite -50kg.

Behnam Dehghanzadeh defeated French player Yassine Rhbalou 4-2 in the final bout of Senior Male Kumite -60kg.

Morteza Nemati defeated his countryman Ali Rahimi 4-3 in the final match of the Senior Male Kumite -75kg.

Sajad Ganjzadeh beat Faadel Boussag of France 4-2 in the final of Senior Male Kumite +84kg.

Mehdi Shahgol in the Senior Male Kumite -75kg, Mahdi Ganjzadeh in the Senior Male Kumite +84kg and Ghazal Naderi in the Senior Female Kumite -61kg claimed three bronze medals.

The 2025 Open de Marseille was held in Marseille, France from January 17 to 19.

The tournament brought 784 athletes from 34 countries together.
