Iran Stresses Urgent OIC Ministerial Meeting on Gaza Displacement Plot
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency ministerial meeting to address a US-Israeli plan for the forced displacement of Gazans.
In a phone call on Monday night with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Araqchi discussed regional developments, particularly the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza.
Araqchi condemned the US-Israeli scheme to forcibly relocate Gaza’s population to other countries, calling it an extension of a colonialist effort to erase Palestine. He stressed the need for decisive global action to counter and reject this plan.
Referring to recent remarks by the Israeli prime minister suggesting the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi territory, Araqchi denounced the statement as an unprecedented display of Israeli expansionism and a direct threat to regional peace and security.
Highlighting his consultations with foreign ministers of Islamic nations, Araqchi noted their support for a serious OIC initiative against a joint US-Israeli attempt to eliminate Palestine. He urged the international community, particularly regional and Islamic nations, to take urgent measures to prevent the normalization of genocide and lawlessness by the Israeli regime. He reiterated that an extraordinary OIC ministerial meeting was essential to addressing the issue.
For his part, the Saudi foreign minister reaffirmed Riyadh’s firm opposition to any plan for the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza. He also expressed support for Iran’s proposal to convene an OIC ministerial meeting to establish a unified stance against the US-Israeli scheme.
During the call, Araqchi also emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and maintaining consultations on regional matters, a stance welcomed by his Saudi counterpart.
