TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokeswoman for the Iranian administration asserted that the upcoming talks with the US will be held indirectly in Oman.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Tuesday, Fatemeh Mohajerani said Iran and the US are going to hold indirect talks in Oman, dismissing the notion of direct negotiations.

Reiterating Iran’s readiness for talks in a respectful manner, she said, “Indirect negotiations in Oman will be pursued. Caring about the national interests will be taken into account and the details should be also mentioned in the course of talks.”

Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araqchi confirmed on Monday that Tehran and Washington are going to hold “indirect high-level talks” in Oman on April 12.

“It is as much an opportunity as it is a test. The ball is in America's court,” the Iranian foreign minister added.

He also confirmed to Tasnim that the upcoming talks in Oman will be led by him and US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff.

On Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on the US administration to show its genuine interest in holding negotiations, stressing that Tehran will not approve of talks at any price or under humiliating circumstances.
