Iranian Parliament Not Kept in the Dark about Oman Talks: Qalibaf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf dismissed an objection raised by a lawmaker that the legislature has been left aside from the recent indirect negotiations between Iran and the US in Oman.

Speaking at a parliamentary session on Sunday, Qalibaf rejected the notion that the Parliament has been sidelined from the course of the Muscat negotiations.

He stressed that the Parliament has not been kept in the dark about the Oman talks, adding, “No action or measure (by Iran) would be taken in violation of the legal procedure.”

Delegations from Iran and the US held a round of indirect talks in Muscat on Saturday, mediated by the foreign minister of Oman.

The two sides, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, have expressed satisfaction with the initial steps.

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19.
