Affairs of State Not Tied to US Talks: Iranian President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian administration is fulfilling its duties routinely without tying anything to the outcome of negotiations with the US, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated.
In comments at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Pezeshkian noted that the indirect negotiations with the US are proceeding normally and routinely, and the affairs of the country are being carried out in their natural course, without any delay, even for a second, due to these discussions.
He, however, emphasized that the executive officials welcome the possibility of an agreement being reached, his official website reported.
The president also expressed gratitude for the guidelines given by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
In remarks on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the ongoing talks in Oman as one of the numerous tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that the nation's affairs should not be dependent on those talks.
Stressing the importance of continuing activities across various sectors, including industry, economy, construction, culture, and major national projects, the Leader stated, “None of these matters have any connection with the Oman talks.”
Delegations from Iran and the US held a round of indirect talks in Muscat on April 12, mediated by the foreign minister of Oman.
The two sides, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US president’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, have expressed satisfaction with the initial steps.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 19.
