Switzerland Ready for Role in Iran-US Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Swiss foreign minister expressed his country’s readiness to contribute to the negotiations between Iran and the US.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis held a telephone conversation on Sunday.

The two top diplomats discussed the international developments and the relations between Tehran and Bern.

The top Swiss diplomat welcomed the indirect talks between Iran and the US, voicing his country’s readiness to provide whatever assistance necessary to that end.

For his part, Araqchi praised Switzerland for the significant role it had played in the negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program in the 2010s.

He also briefed Cassis on the latest negotiations between Iran and the US.

Delegations from Iran and the US have held two rounds of talks in Muscat and Rome in the past two weeks with the purpose of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of sanctions on Iran.

The two sides have agreed to proceed with technical talks at the level of experts in Oman on April 23, to be followed by a meeting of top negotiators on April 26.
